This week be as Nungpa...

Years ago when i lived in England I spent time with the Dalai Lama, Holiness Tenzin Gyatso.  One of the parts of his talk and sharing with us that stayed with me all these years was the term "Nungpa"  He went on to explain how Buddhism is not a religion, but  a philosophy.  Buddhism is what we study.
Buddhism is training and education. Buddhism is a philosophy for life.

We study the teachings of Buddha.   He said we do not call ourselves Buddhists.  We are called Nungpa - one who studies and seeks and looks within.

Nungpa means 'insider', one who seeks the truth not by looking outside of themselves, but by looking inside of themselves.

You don't have to be a follower of any one or any religion to be a nungpa.  You just need to look within.  It is an attitude and understanding that what you study, what you learn, what you read are but signposts, maps, manuals and tools for you to ultimately find your answers within.
